Excellence, The Adventure Continues will be held at the Lodge at Torrey Pines in San Diego, CA on May 1-2, 2016. Rod Dammeyer, a graduate of Kent State University, began his business career with Arthur Andersen & Co. and was admitted to partnership in 1970. He subsequently served in leadership positions with Northwest Industries, Inc., Household International, Itel Corporation (which merged into Anixter International) and served as managing partner of Equity Group Corporate Investments from 1995 until 2000. Rod currently serves as chairman of CAC, a private company offering capital investment and management advisory services. He is a member of the boards of directors of Stericycle, Inc. and Quidel Corporation, in addition to being a trustee of Invesco Funds and Van Kampen Investment Funds. He also serves on the boards of California Charter Schools Association and High Tech High Charter Schools in San Diego. He is committed to fighting global poverty and promoting education through various micro-finance organizations.

His groundbreaking works have been translated into more than 42 languages and in 2005 he was inducted into Amazon’s Hall of Fame as one of the top 25 bestselling authors of all time. Ken is also the co-founder and chief spiritual officer of The Ken Blanchard Companies, an international management training and consulting firm that he and his wife, Margie Blanchard, began in 1979 in San Diego, California. When he’s not writing or speaking, Ken also spends time teaching students in the Master of Science in Executive Leadership Program at the University of San Diego.
Leigh Steinberg has pioneered the convergence of the sports and entertainment industries and is credited as the real life inspiration of the sports agent from the film “Jerry Maguire.” During the four decades that Leigh has dedicated to his craft, his client roster has included the likes of Steve Young, Troy Aikman, Warren Moon, Bruce Smith, Thurman Thomas, Ben Roethlisberger, Howie Long and many others. An accomplished speaker, Steinberg has traveled the world addressing topics he is passionate about ranging from sports and entertainment, concussion prevention, the environment, to political and economic issues. Steinberg was admitted to the California State Bar in 1974 after earning his Juris Doctor from Boalt Hall, UC Berkeley’s law school, in 1973. He earned a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from UC Berkeley in 1970.

Swen Nater is a retired Dutch professional basketball player, having played in the American Basketball Association (ABA) and National Basketball Association (NBA). He is the only player to have led both the NBA and ABA in rebounding. Nater was a two-time ABA All-Star and was the 1974 ABA Rookie of the Year. He played college basketball for the UCLA Bruins, winning two National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) titles. Swen’s personal journey is nothing short of amazing and he will talk candidly of his life experiences while sharing lessons learned from the close relationship he developed over a lifetime with legendary UCLA basketball coach, John Wooden, the “Wizard of Westwood!”
Joanna Martinez is a global procurement/supply chain leader who has led transformation initiatives for companies in many different industries, including Johnson & Johnson (consumer products, pharmaceuticals), Diageo (beverage), AllianceBernstein LP (financial services) and Cushman & Wakefield (real estate services, property management). She creates ways in which procurement and supply chain improvements improve bottom-line growth, bringing innovations in approaches and techniques to the industries in which she works and the people she coaches. She’s also held client-facing roles, effectively giving her the opportunity to “sit on both sides of the table.” Through various mergers, acquisitions, and reorganizations Joanna has the distinction of having lost her job 18 times. She's adjusted to the constant disruption, creating ways to embrace the change and bounce back from any setbacks.

George Veras oversees marketing, corporate sponsorships, ticket sales, hospitality, guest services, social media, events and television. A 10-time Sports Emmy Award winner, George is currently producing a new hologram Hall of Fame program titled “A Game for Life” and is working on various NFL 100th year anniversary documentary projects. He established the Hometown Hall of Famer program that celebrates Hall of Fame Gold Jacket community support, founded the US Army Award of Excellence and created five television specials for the NFL Network. When working with CBS Sports, his assignments included serving as the Senior Producer for the Winter Olympics in 1992 and 1994 as well as producing NFL, NBA, MLB, NCAA Basketball and Boxing telecasts.
Mark Pimpo spent over 26 years on active duty in the Navy, retiring at the rank of Captain in June 2014 as Commanding Officer of the Navy Supply Corps School in Newport, RI, where he was responsible for the continuum of training for over 4,000 Naval logisticians that focus on providing students with the personal and professional foundations for success. Mark joined the Under Armour team in July 2014 as the Senior Director of Under Armour University where he was responsible for the development and execution of UA’s teammate development process, focusing on key management and leadership training. In March 2015, Mark was selected to be the Supply Chain Chief of Staff, where he is currently responsible for the design, development and implementation of strategic, operational and tactical programs for the Global Supply Chain, including integration within core and growth business units. Mark will serve as the host for the Aircraft Carrier tour segment for the Excellence, The Adventure Continues experience.
Tiffany Baumann Cantelupe, a Cleveland State grad and Miss Ohio 2000, has worked consistently as an actor, singer/songwriter and Ford model and is a proud 15-year member of the Screen Actors Guild. She has appeared in national ad campaigns such as Colgate, Bud Light, Altoids and Nike, and has graced the pages of Mens Health Magazine among others. When Tiffany takes time out from her pride and joy, her children, James and Kylie, she is an active member in the community, named one of the 20 Faces of Komen in 2012, and she continues her advocacy and philanthropic work with University Hospitals Seidman Cancer Center, Rainbow Babies and Children, Susan G. Komen NEO as well as the Visiting Committee for the Fine Arts Department at Cleveland State University. She can also be seen hosting events, singing the national anthem at sporting events, giving talks and singing at Grace Church in Bath.
Deborah Spake, Ph.D., joined Kent State University in January 2013 as Dean of the College of Business Administration. She previously served as associate dean and professor of marketing at the University of South Alabama’s Mitchell College of Business and has also served on the faculties of the University of Alabama at Birmingham, Western Michigan University, and as a visiting professor at the University of Applied Sciences in Worms, Germany. Prior to earning her doctorate in marketing, she worked as the marketing research director of a publishing company and later for consulting firms in Atlanta, working with Fortune 500 clients specializing in new product development and strategic planning.
